Bronze Chameleon

The charming chameleon figurine is cast in Benin bronze, a material with an impressive lineage.  Benin bronze refers to the celebrated metalcasting tradition of the Kingdom of Benin in what is now southern Nigeria, where specialist guilds produced bronze and brass works for the royal court from at least the fifteenth century.  These pieces were created using the lost‑wax casting method, allowing for intricate detail and expressive forms that defined the artistry of Benin’s craftsmen for centuries.
