The Dandy - Art under a globe

“The Dandy” is one of those pieces that reveals itself in stages.  At first, you notice the butterflies, bright and full of movement.  Then, as your eyes settle, the portrait appears within them.  That shift is the whole idea behind anamorphosis: an old art technique where an image is cleverly hidden inside another, only becoming clear from the right viewpoint.  Here it feels playful and a bit theatrical, especially under the glass dome, which keeps the whole scene perfectly contained and ready for display.
